At the beginning of August, the United States announced that it would raise the tax rate of $200billion of Chinese products from 10% to 25%. China responded quickly by imposing tariffs of 25% to 5% on 5207 items worth about $50billion, including logs and wood products from the United States.
As we all know, in recent years, in order to protect forest resources and maintain ecological balance, many domestic forests have gradually banned commercial logging, and the demand for timber imports has increased significantly. Now import timber tariffs to the United States, the domestic timber price is bound to rise!
In fact, not only the United States, but also the world's environmental awareness has increased, and the log export policy has become increasingly stringent. For example, Ukraine will start restricting log exports next year, and Vietnam's timber imports will increase by 25%.
